Bhairahawa, For the first time in Bhairahawa, 1,250 monks embarked on a 3.8 km ‘Dhamma Yatra’ accompanied by Buddha’s Astudhatu. This unprecedented event, led by Shankar Gaha, chairman of the organizer, aimed to bolster Lumbini’s prominence as the birthplace of Buddha and a paramount destination for Buddhism globally. The journey traced the footsteps of Lord Buddha as he traversed to Kapilbastu, marking a significant milestone for the region.
In a press conference convened at the Siddhartha Industry and Commerce Association in Bhairawa, it was disclosed that the expedition was orchestrated by the collaborative efforts of the Dhammakaya Family of Thailand and the Buddhist Society of Nepal. Commencing from Siddhartha Stadium in Bhairawa, the pilgrimage culminated at Lumbiniduar via Buddhachowk, embodying a spiritual odyssey resonating with the essence of Buddhism.
Shankar Gaha, president of the Buddhist Society of Nepal, underscored the program’s dual purpose: to enhance Nepal’s tourism sector and foster a deeper global reverence for Buddhism. This initiative not only celebrates the historical significance of Lumbini but also illuminates its role as the “Light of Asia,” inviting enthusiasts worldwide to embark on a transformative journey of spiritual discovery.
